The Ballad of Robin Hood and the Deer
A ballad poem by John Gallas with nine drawings by Clifford Harper.
Every land has its hero. Ours is an outlaw, rebel and thief - Robin Hood. Each era gives him its identity. The illustrator Clifford Harper and the poet John Gallas, both anarchists, give us a new version of Robin - hunter and hunted - the ballad verse closely echoing the drawings.
“The careless earth is dark and cold,
the hanging trees are high;
the greenest hope’s al ready old:
I never see the sky”
